Visitors from near and far relish Topsail Island’s many opportunities to hook the big one. Surf cast, drop a line off a pier or reserve a charter boat. The fish are always biting on Topsail Island it seems. Headquartered in the Fishing Village on Roland Avenue in Surf City, Topsail Charter Fishing docks 10 different boats and captains.
Each skipper is Coast Guard Certified and trained in first aid and CPR. Book half, three-quarter and full days of fishing.
Fish the Gulf Stream for tuna and mahi, or stay inland for trout. That’s just a few of the some 150 edible species off North Carolina.
Topsail Island hosts three major fishing piers located at the northern, middle and southern parts of Topsail Island. SeaView Pier is located in North Topsail Beach, Jolly Roger Pier is in Topsail Beach on the southern end of the island and Surf City Pier is at the middle of the island in Surf City.
Numerous fishing tournaments happen throughout the year. One popular one is scheduled for November 4-6, 2016 when the Fisherman’s Post Topsail Fall Surf Fishing Challenge is slated. Further details will be posted as the event approaches.
Topsail Island also hosts tournaments that are exclusively for children. Kids welcome the opportunity to enjoy a day outside with others their own age.
