Wilmington, NC’s burgeoning arts community is well represented by the new Art in Bloom Gallery. The new shop is located in a renovated horse stable originally built by the Quinlivan family of farriers in 1910. The gallery offers both indoor and outdoor exhibition space for nationally and internationally recognized artists. It is located at 210 Princess Street in downtown Wilmington.
A true 21st century art gallery, Art in Bloom combines the historical charm of the building with the latest in technology. The historical is represented by the original heart-pine ceiling and brick walls of the building. They mix with interactive computer screens and Wi-Fi to display both digital and physical art.
The courtyard in the back features outdoor sculpture and has seating for visitors to enjoy shade and sun under a large cherry laurel tree.
Visitors will find a mixture of traditional and contemporary paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics and fabric. Also on display are objects found during the renovation of the building: horse shoes, bottles, papers, wagon parts, utensils, glass, and ceramics, circa 1910-1920. There is a lot of material to see in this shop.
