When you’re in the mood for classic, made-from-scratch American fare, treat yourself to lunch or dinner at Henry’s Restaurant, in Wilmington at the corner of Shipyard and Independence Boulevards. Various salads, sandwiches, soups and luncheon plates are offered mid-day. Shrimp and grits and half-pound burgers topped with mushroom gravy are among the favorites.
Dinner brings roast chicken breast and homemade meatloaf, each served with mashed potatoes, vegetable of the day and gravy. Stuffed pork loin (pictured above) is served with new potatoes and a summer squash and zucchini combination. It is another delicious option. Seafood choices include coconut shrimp and lump crab cakes. A house salad or soup comes with entrees. Seafood fettuccine, four-cheese penne pasta and fettuccine with grilled chicken, bacon, onions, and mushrooms in parmesan cheese sauce are always in demand.
“Two-handed” sandwiches and several entree salads are other choices. Henry’s also offers a “crate to plate” special each day that emphasizes local ingredients, an effort recognized by the N.C. Department of Agriculture’s Goodness Grows in North Carolina seal.
Henry’s has a full bar with $5 appetizers starting at 4 p.m. each day. Live music begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Brunch, featuring both breakfast and lunch selections, is offered on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Henry’s opens at 11 a.m. daily. Portions are substantial so no one will walk away hungry after dining at Henry’s Restaurant.
The Pine Room at Henry’s is a good place for private events such as board meetings, rehearsal dinners, showers and holiday or birthday parties. Henry’s also offers a wide selection of party platters for off-site events too.
