Superb Medical Facilities

Not only is Wilmington the financial center of southeastern North Carolina, it’s also the center for medical treatment and education. New Hanover Regional Medical Center on 17th Street and its associated facilities throughout the area continue to improve and expand.

A large and growing number of very highly qualified doctors are joining other medical personnel in moving to this special area as their place to live and work. One of the largest physicians practices in the area, Wilmington Health Associates, continues to attract superb talent.

Highly-Ranked University

The 10,965 student University of North Carolina Wilmington on College Road is highly ranked both nationally and in the Southeast, and has won a number of awards for academic excellence. The school offers 73 bachelor’s degree programs and 32 graduate programs. Among both public and private institutions in the South, in 2008 UNCW ranked 14th out of 119 institutions.
