Shopping At The Forum

On Military Cutoff Road and close to the Wrightsville Beach Causeway is The Forum, a very popular shopping mecca featuring upscale shops and charming boutiques. If you’re interested in wonderful and unique merchandise, this is the place to find home furnishings, antiques, paintings, pottery, women’s fashions, jewelry and children’s clothing.

Spectrum Art & Jewelry At Forum

A special shop at The Forum is Spectrum Art & Jewelry, offering dazzling jewelry, original art and memorable gifts in a very welcoming environment. More than 100 select American artists are represented by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Star Sosa, owner of Spectrum, is a custom jewelry designer who works with clients to give them the perfect one-of-a-kind piece. Fine jewelry can be repaired here too. The gallery strives to make people feel at home and has a monthly open house and wine tasting.

One of the artists at Spectrum is Anne Cunningham, who has been working exclusively with materials such as copper, brass, and aluminum since 1990. She has a B.F.A. from Ohio State and says that, “everyday is an experiment,” as she finds new ways to shape, weave, cut, paint and dye the metals.

We know many will find it hard to believe but there really is a store where buying a bathing suit is not a traumatic event. The Tara Grinna Swimwear store, located at The Forum, an upscale shopping center on Military Cutoff Road, specializes in bathing suits of all types as well as beach cover-ups, sarongs and pareos. There is a large selection of bikinis, swimsuits and bathing suits, and the talented staff at the shop is happy to help clients find the suit that will most flatter them. Tara Grinna has been a respected designer in the swimwear industry for 25 years and makes her suits and separates to fit and flatter real women, whose figures may not be perfect. The designer is known for her gorgeous prints, vibrant colors and sophisticated cover-ups that can easily transition from the beach to a function where high fashion resort wear is appropriate.

Take A Break For Sushi

It’s not unusual to get hungry while shopping and there is a fabulous place for sushi at The Forum.

The Bento Box specializes in sushi (and it is the best you’ll find in Wilmington) and Asian street food. They also have an outstanding dessert if just a bite of something sweet is what you crave. Try the coconut or chocolate potstickers. You’ll be glad you did.
