Abundant Choices

No matter how much things change over time, some things remain the same for all time. The joy of shopping in Cape Fear country is one of those things. Published in 1983, the first book in this series said, “Perhaps the most exciting part of Cape Fear shopping is the wide variety of merchandise available in the area.”

Jewelry, Art, Home Accents, Much More

One of the newest retail stores in Wilmington is filled with all types of unusual and exciting merchandise. The Pavilion Deluxe Shoppes, located on Market Street, has a huge display of jewelry and art, and also has gourmet items not readily available elsewhere. Interior designers and homeowners who are looking for the perfect accents for home and garden should make this shop their first stop. You’ll also want to return again and again since new products are coming in all the time. For the perfect respite from your shopping adventure, try the Garden Party Café, serving sandwiches, bagels, small salads, muffins and beverages.

Garden Ornaments, Silk Flowers, China, Glassware, Giftwrap…

Conveniently located on Market Street just north of Eastwood Road, you’ll find New River Pottery, a huge store with an inventory of most everything under the sun. Glassware, china, giftwrap, vast numbers and types of candles, garden ornaments, pots, yards and yards of ribbon, artificial flowers in silk and other materials, lamps, furnishings and linens are just a few of the items in stock. Few stores carry more seasonal merchandise than you will find here too. New River Pottery offers a customer loyalty program, and there is no question that you will want to return again and again.

Local Retailer Expands To Three Locations

DDT Outlet, with two locations on Market Street (one in Ogden, one near Topsail Island), has opened a third store at Independence Mall. All the stores are chock full of unique merchandise for home and beach. From whimsical to practical, there is something for nearly everyone there.

We are quite accustomed to what locals refer to as strip malls, strip plazas or shopping plazas, which have entrances from outdoor sidewalks (some covered, some not). We’ve got lots of those. They can be found in every community and come in all sizes from only two or three stores to 20-30 businesses.
