Joseph Zell and Company

When you step through the door for an appointment at Joseph Zell and Company, you’ll immediately realize you’re in no ordinary salon. You’ll instantly notice the antiques and superb Louis XIV reproduction furniture that would not be out of place in a beautiful home. Original artwork on the walls, a gold-domed ceiling, and fabulous accessories complete the opulent space that was decorated by Eve Zell, co-owner of the salon with her husband, Joseph.
The services you’ll receive are as spectacular as the surroundings and at prices no higher than at any quality salon. The ambience is very much in keeping with the clients and staff at Joseph Zell and Company, and many clients feel very much part of a family after just a few visits. The talented staff was handpicked by Joseph, a former featured stylist with Peter Coppola in New York. Joseph and Chelsea Plemmons, another gifted hair stylist, attend two to three seminars given by some of the world’s best hair designers each year so that they remain in the forefront of the industry’s advances.
Among the services offered are all things related to hair care, including fabulous cuts for men and women, color highlights, glossing and dyeing to cover gray or just for a change of pace if the customer prefers. The salon uses European hair products by L’anza, one of the world’s preeminent brands. Those interested in having thicker, longer or more voluminous hair can do so with Great Lengths International hair extensions, guaranteed to be made from 100 percent human hair and considered by many the best product available.
Superb facials are a feature at Joseph Zell and Company. Dawn Apple, a Master Esthetician, has an excellent reputation in her profession. She has been at the salon for 10 years and has extensive training in numerous services, including Si Jin Bao topical Chinese herbs, Osmosis, Microcurrent and LED Light Therapy. Describing one of her facials, which use exclusively organic skin care products, cannot come close to actually experiencing one. Your skin will feel incredibly refreshed and rejuvenated. For many of her clients, a monthly facial is a necessary part of health and beauty. Xtreme eyelash extensions, body wraps and waxing are other services offered by the staff, whose outstanding training is obvious.
Kim Pereira, a manicurist for 15 years, offers a number of options for nail care including organic manicures and pedicures, odorless acrylic overlays, silk wraps and the new Shellac UV-cured 14-day nail color.
The services are offered individually or can be combined into a Day of Beauty package that includes a manicure, pedicure, facial, body wrap, complete hair styling with cut and color and a delicious complimentary lunch. Joseph Zell and Company is located in the Arboretum Center on Oleander Drive. The salon is just over the bridge from Wrightsville Beach and is an easy drive from Figure Eight Island as well as from Historic Downtown Wilmington.

Ki Spa Salon

Ki Spa, located in The Forum on Military Cutoff Road, offers a host of spa services. The salon has a simple philosophy of combining natural products, pure aromatherapy and healing techniques to promote total body renewal. Ki is an ancient Japanese word for energy.
Patrons may choose from numerous types of massage, body wraps, facials and nail treatments for both hands and feet. Among the specialty treatments offered are Shiatsu and Reflexology. Other options are a Revitalizing Massage using the essential oil of ginger or a Tranquility Massage, using Bindi oil, a combination of ancient Indian herbs, coconut and sesame oils.
Several body treatments are offered, including the Rehydrating Sea Algae Wrap, which uses sea algae from the waters of France, and the Remineralizing Green Tea Mud Wrap, using an antioxidant rich green tea mixed with purifying mud.
