So Many Communities

Everyone is aware that fewer residential properties changed hands over the last two years as a number of economic forces collided to slow the pace of sales. However, the Wilmington area saw a smaller decline than was experienced by many parts of the country with both total sales and prices holding up better than most.

Fortunately, the Wilmington area has proven to be a desirable, premier location for retirees, corporate location and expansion, entrepreneurs and those seeking a better quality of life.

There are so many distinct areas that it’s not easy to describe communities in the Greater Wilmington area. Although growth has slowed somewhat from the average of about 20 percent every 10 years experienced recently, new neighborhoods become old neighborhoods fairly quickly as even more new neighborhoods are developed.

Of course, it’s not possible to list all of the residential communities, but we’ll mention a few that are new or continuing to develop in three basic areas: New Hanover County, which includes Wilmington; Brunswick County, which includes Southport and Leland; and Pender County, just north of Wilmington.
