New Homes In Wilmington
Growth of new neighborhoods is taking place all over Wilmington, with much of it being concentrated along several corridors: the east side near Wrightsville Beach, especially along Military Cutoff Road; the south side along River Road all the way to Carolina Beach; the southeast side along Carolina Beach Road down to Pleasure Island; the northeast side along Market Street through Ogden.
On the east side of the city near Wrightsville Beach, quite a few neighborhoods have developed. Landfall,a private gated community off Eastwood Road begun in 1985, consists of 2,200 acres and 1,900 home sites along the Intracoastal Waterway. A few of the amenities of this staid, upscale community include two clubhouses, 45 holes of golf designed by Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus, 14 tennis courts in a sports complex designed by Cliff Drysdale and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Along River Road developments and expensive homes are sprouting up so fast that it’s hard to keep track of them. In fact, River Road is currently being rerouted to facilitate some of this development. Not so many years ago, the only developments between Carolina Beach Road and River Road were The Cape, Beau Rivage Plantation and Echo Farms Golf and Country Club.
New Condos At Echo Farms
For example, Passage Point, currently under construction, overlooks Echo Farms Golf Course and features condominiums starting in the $190s within walking distance of the Cape Fear River and a nearby marina. Located just minutes both from downtown and the Pleasure Island beaches, this development is convenient to a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities.
Passage Point features large two and three bedroom units, ranging from 1300 to 1555 square feet, in three-story buildings with enclosed foyers and elevators. Great rooms in the units have large glass patio doors opening onto private decks overlooking the golf course. The development has a variety of amenities including a pavilion clubhouse, resort style pool, ponds, natural areas, open green spaces and wooded walking trails.
Brand New Community Underway
The newest development along River Road is The Village at Mott’s Landing, a community of 90 homes specifically designed for active adults by Premier Homes. All homes will be constructed with low maintenance brick exteriors, 25-30 year roofing materials, oversized interior hallways and doors, and raised vanities in all bathrooms and powder rooms. A model home center is open now and there are numerous floor plans available.
Among the amenities contained within the community are a walking trail, swimming pool, clubhouse, putting green and tennis court. Grocery stores, pharmacies, golf courses, marinas, shops and restaurants are conveniently located less than 10 minutes away. Wilmington’s airport as well as Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach are a short drive away. Wilmington’s largest shopping centers are reachable in 15 minutes or less, making it easy to find whatever might be needed.
