Figure Eight Island
Before the turn of the 20th century, the only residents of Figure Eight Island were wild ponies who freely galloped the dunes. Things have changed dramatically since then.
Beautiful Oceanfront Homes
Figure Eight Island today is a delightful oceanfront community located just 12 miles north of Wilmington, accessible only by crossing a guarded causeway bridge from North Carolina State Road 1402, (Edgewater Club Road) off Highway 17 and Porters Neck Road. At once you’ll be taken by the feeling of being in another world. And, indeed you are.
This 1,300-acre, five-mile island retreat features only private homes – currently 460, and each one is different. You won’t find cookie-cutter developments. And the homes are gorgeous, most with spectacular ocean, sound or marsh views. From luxurious, exquisite five and six bedroom homes to more modest three and four bedroom bungalows, all have their own personalities.
The island has permanent residents, but is popular as a second home and vacation location, too, often as a haven for celebrities and politicians. Experienced agencies handle Figure Eight Island real estate sales, rentals and property management.
