Shopping
No matter how much things change over time, some things remain the same for all time. The joy of shopping in Cape Fear country is one of those things. Passages on page 21 of the 1983 Wilmington NC Guide to Cape Fear Leisure, the first book in this series, sound almost identical to those used in more recent publications:
“Perhaps the most exciting part of Cape Fear shopping is the wide variety of merchandise available in the area…. Over the years because of its importance as a seaport, Wilmington’s commercial center was the downtown area. Today one still finds an active retail district along Front Street, bound on the north by The Cotton Exchange and on the south by Chandler’s Wharf.” |
